Best Clean Concealers For Dark Circles

Discover the best clean concealers that actually cover dark circles!

I have tested many clean concealers on my 40+ textured under-eye circles and found the products below to be the BEST clean concealers!

Most concealers contain potentially harmful ingredients like fragrance, peg compounds, and siloxanes among others. The clean concealers I list below are free of these unnecessary ingredients, and they do not contain even small amounts of potentially harmful ingredients such as phenoxyethanol!

How I define "clean"

Though I include safety scores and reports from the Environmental Working Group and the Think Dirty app, I always look at the ingredient list. To make sure I don’t miss anything, I scan each ingredient list with the Switch Natural app. I do this, because even some cosmetics that are EWG Verified contain potentially harmful ingredients.

Why do I use this multi-step approach to ensure that the clean beauty products I use and recommend are actually clean?

There are many makeup brands that claim to be “clean” or “non toxic,” but they still use toxic ingredients like fragrance, peg compounds, siloxanes, or other potentially toxic ingredients. This is called “greenwashing” or “clean washing”

How I Set My Concealer Without Accentuating Texture
  1. To prep, I moisturize my face and under-eyes (but not too much) and always use a primer.
  2. I get my powder puff ready with powder already on it – the absolute best products I’ve found for this are the (M)anasi 7 Silk Finish Powder and the Jenny Patinkin On Pointe Puffs (they are a godsend for setting textured under eyes).
  3. I apply concealer: For most formulas, I apply it using the Morphe 421 brush into the outer ridge of my under-eye circle, and blend inward using the Real Techniques Expert Concealer Brush. Then, I spot conceal inside my under-eye ridge with the Morphe 421 again if necessary (it usually is for me) to completely camouflage my under-eye circles. See the video below for a demo. I use as little product as possible on areas with deeper lines, to help avoid creasing.

4. After applying concealer, to minimize creasing and set it without looking cakey, I sweep away any excess concealer that has settled into lines using my brush. Or, you could let it sit while applying all of your makeup and then sweep away the excess.

5. Next, I PRESS the powder puff that I prepared with the powder on it all around my eye area to minimize creasing and extend wear time. (If I don’t have eyeshadow primer, I also place the powder on my top lids to prep for eyeshadow.) You could also use a regular small folded-up powder puff to apply the powder, and a soft brush to brush off any excess.

See me demo steps 4 & 5 in the video below:

6. Repeat on the other eye.

7. Apply setting spray – you can apply it right after setting your under-eyes or wait until you are done with all of your makeup.

I hope this worked for you. I’d love to hear from you. Do you have any methods or tips for setting your under-eyes?

Have You Tried Any Of These Clean Concealers?

Comment below if you decide to try any of these products, or if you have a favorite that’s not on this list! Since everyone’s skin is different, makeup is not a one-size-fits-all. I’d love to hear about your experience!
