Best Clean Concealers For Dark Circles
Discover the best clean concealers that actually cover dark circles!
I have tested many clean concealers on my 40+ textured under-eye circles and found the products below to be the BEST clean concealers!
Most concealers contain potentially harmful ingredients like fragrance, peg compounds, and siloxanes among others. The clean concealers I list below are free of these unnecessary ingredients, and they do not contain even small amounts of potentially harmful ingredients such as phenoxyethanol!
How I define "clean"
Though I include safety scores and reports from the Environmental Working Group and the Think Dirty app, I always look at the ingredient list. To make sure I don’t miss anything, I scan each ingredient list with the Switch Natural app. I do this, because even some cosmetics that are EWG Verified contain potentially harmful ingredients.
Why do I use this multi-step approach to ensure that the clean beauty products I use and recommend are actually clean?
There are many makeup brands that claim to be “clean” or “non toxic,” but they still use toxic ingredients like fragrance, peg compounds, siloxanes, or other potentially toxic ingredients. This is called “greenwashing” or “clean washing”

Best For: People who are tired of correctors that move around and settle into lines and want to neutralize dark circles with minimal creasing.
Jones Road Neutralizer Pencil
Jones Road Neutralizer Pencil
The Neutralizer Pencil makes it super easy to get detailed with my under-eye corrector – it’s like drawing! Most correctors I’ve used are too creamy or runny and they collect in my lines or don’t completely dry down. In walks The Neutralizer Pencil – a corrector in a pencil form that can be sharpened – the invention I didn’t know I needed 🙂. Plus, it hardly settles into my lines compared to every other corrector or concealer I’ve tried. I love that it adheres to my skin, but is not drying.
I apply the Jones Road Neutralizer Pencil under my eyes where I have the most darkness (usually my inner eye corners and into the outer ridge of my under-eye circle) and gently blend with this concealer brush before I apply The Face Pencil. Some days all I need is this Neutralizer Pencil because it really cuts down on the darkness! Especially on days when I don’t want to wear as much makeup.

Best For: People who like the idea of a cream concealer pencil and don’t have a lot of loose skin under their eyes.
Jones Road Face Pencil
Jones Road Face Pencil
I was so excited when I looked at the ingredients of this pencil and saw that it is CLEAN! I find that a concealer in pencil form makes it so much easier to target the deepest, darkest parts of my under-eyes and inner eye corner area. It really brightens up my under-eye. The formula is somewhat creamy, glides on smoothly, but settles less than most concealers I’ve used. The Face Pencil and The Neutralizer Pencil are everything I didn’t realize my dark circles needed.

Typically, I correct with the Jones Road Neutralizer Pencil first (see above) and use The Face Pencil to brighten up my inner eye corners and any stubborn dark spots. But, if you want to use The Face Pencil alone, it works just like concealer – I apply it under my eyes where I have the most darkness (usually the inner corner and into the outer ridge of my under-eye circle) and gently blend with this concealer brush. However, if you have a lot of loose skin under your eyes, it is possible that applying this pencil may feel like it is dragging your skin, so in that case I would go with one of the other concealer formulas in this blog post.

Best For: Anyone looking for almost opaque full coverage with minimal settling into lines.
Sappho New Paradigm Cream Concealer
Sappho New Paradigm Cream Concealer
This is my favorite cream concealer. It is extremely pigmented and brightening – a little goes a long way. I love that the formula isn’t so wet that it settles into my lines, and it isn’t so dry that it accentuates texture – it’s just right. I also think this is one of the best clean concealers because it lasts a full day for me. Sappho tests their products for PFAS (“forever” chemicals that most of us have been exposed to), and they publish the results on their website.
This is especially pigmented, so add a little at a time until you get the coverage you need. Though I love this concealer, not everyone does . If you want to cover your under-eye circles with minimal creasing, give it a try – it could become your new favorite!

Best For: Those who prefer a medium coverage liquid/serum formula that is easily buildable to full coverage, or those with dry skin.
Tower 28 Swipe Serum Concealer
Tower 28 Swipe Serum Concealer
I think this is one of the best clean concealers because it is lightweight, hydrating, easy to build to full coverage, doesn’t highlight my lines, AND it lasted 8 hours on me. It has a natural, skin-like finish. It is quite hydrating so I think this is a great option for people with dry skin. There are full coverage concealers with a similar consistency that may last a long time, but they don’t melt into the skin flawlessly like this one – it really looks like skin. Plus, it didn’t sink into my lines very much compared to other concealers.
I love that the applicator is not too huge, so if you have somewhat small features, you may be able to apply this directly to your under-eye area, instead of using a brush. For full coverage, I apply 2 layers. See my full tutorial at the bottom of this page for more details!

Rose Inc Softlight Clean Dewy Hydrating Concealer
Rose Inc Softlight Clean Dewy Hydrating Concealer
I know I’m not alone when I say that this is one of the best clean concealers! This liquid formula self-sets – no powder needed! This is great news for those of us with texture under our eyes because powder can often accentuate our texture. Of course, you can use powder over it if you want to (I love this clean powder for the under-eye area), but it’s not necessary. I love that this settles into lines less than most concealers I’ve tried and it has very good coverage for being in the “medium” coverage category – I consider this almost full coverage, and it’s easy to build it up.
A little goes a long way. The doe foot applicator is quite large, so I typically use a mini concealer brush to apply it, and a slightly bigger densely packed brush to blend. See my tips at the end of this post for more details!

r.e.m. beauty Sweetener Concealer
r.e.m. beauty Sweetener Concealer
To me, this is one of the best clean concealers because it is a feather light, easily buildable-to-full-coverage cream concealer that settles into lines less than most. I was surprised at how weightless it is for a cream concealer. I find the formula to be highly pigmented with a lovely brightening effect and a soft matte finish. It is formulated with a blend of hyaluronic acid, ashwagandha, and vitamin E to help give the skin a smooth appearance. As a bonus, it comes with a mini spatula so you don’t have to worry about bacteria when dipping back into the jar. It comes in a whopping 60 shades.
Using the spatula, I remove a small amount of product from the jar. I typically use a mini concealer brush to apply it, and a slightly bigger densely packed brush to blend. See my tips at the end of this post for more details!

How I Set My Concealer Without Accentuating Texture
- To prep, I moisturize my face and under-eyes (but not too much) and always use a primer.
- I get my powder puff ready with powder already on it – the absolute best products I’ve found for this are the (M)anasi 7 Silk Finish Powder and the Jenny Patinkin On Pointe Puffs (they are a godsend for setting textured under eyes).
- I apply concealer: For most formulas, I apply it using the Morphe 421 brush into the outer ridge of my under-eye circle, and blend inward using the Real Techniques Expert Concealer Brush. Then, I spot conceal inside my under-eye ridge with the Morphe 421 again if necessary (it usually is for me) to completely camouflage my under-eye circles. See the video below for a demo. I use as little product as possible on areas with deeper lines, to help avoid creasing.
4. After applying concealer, to minimize creasing and set it without looking cakey, I sweep away any excess concealer that has settled into lines using my brush. Or, you could let it sit while applying all of your makeup and then sweep away the excess.
5. Next, I PRESS the powder puff that I prepared with the powder on it all around my eye area to minimize creasing and extend wear time. (If I don’t have eyeshadow primer, I also place the powder on my top lids to prep for eyeshadow.) You could also use a regular small folded-up powder puff to apply the powder, and a soft brush to brush off any excess.
See me demo steps 4 & 5 in the video below:
6. Repeat on the other eye.
7. Apply setting spray – you can apply it right after setting your under-eyes or wait until you are done with all of your makeup.
I hope this worked for you. I’d love to hear from you. Do you have any methods or tips for setting your under-eyes?
